y July The Theology on Tap speaker series continues on July 12 with Father Brian O’Brien, president of Bishop Kelley High School, leading a discussion on Voting Catholic. Held in the relaxed atmosphere of McNellie’s Irish Pub, 409 E. First St. in Tulsa. The evening begins with a social hour at 7 p.m., with the lecture and discussion at 8 p.m. The event, sponsored by the Catholic Young Adults, meets the second Tuesday of the month through October. The diocesan Senior High Summer Youth Camp is back and will be held July 2-6 at Robbers Cave State Park near Wilbur-ton. Summer Camp gathers diverse groups of young people from large or small, rural and urban parishes across Oklahoma for fellow-ship, friendships, renewed sense of community and outdoor relational ministry. Registration is limited and costs $200 per camper. Vespers comes from a Latin word mean-ing “evening,” referring to the time of day in which this prayer is said. Join Bishop Slattery at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 29 for this beautiful and prayerful component of the Liturgy of the Hours. Protecting God’s Children is a pro-gram that educates adults on how to keep children safe from sexual predators. All adults are encouraged to attend. Much like earning merit badges, the annual Religious Awards Ceremony recognizes those Scouts who have participated in the religious emblems program administered by the diocese and approved by Scouting organizations. Special recognition was given to 11 Scouts who received the Pillar of Faith Award for earning all possible religious awards in their respective Scouting organization. Bake sale nets soccer balls A Lenten project devised by three fourth-grade entrepreneurs from St. Pius X School raised more than $300 and in-troduced the students to the joy of giving. Madison Tokarchik, Abby Arp and Mad-die Wilson (front row) created a business plan to sell baked goods at a Bishop Kel-ley High School soccer tournament on March 9. The proceeds, $303.12 to be exact, were used to purchase 23 dodge balls and 15 soccer balls for students at San Miguel School. San Miguel students Brandon Ledezma, Juan Pablo Vazquez, Alex Rodriguez, Yaguelin Alvarez, Nayel Luevano and Jenifer Rodriguez gladly accepted the donation. 27nit
