YOUR F AITH spiritual fitness Editor’s note: Zelda is a fictional character created by Mother Miriam who was raised Catholic, but in a family with strong Jewish roots. She fell away from the Catholic faith for a while and now has returned fully, but has challenges to meet with her Jewish relatives and Evangelical Protestant friends. Zelda will accompany Mother Miriam this year as she explores living a devout Catholic life in today’s modern world. Dedicated to the Precious Blood of Jesus How can we not forgive, when Christ has given all for us? T 18 hirty-six years ago, I was brought from spiritual death to life, from a world of mere and utter survival to a God who loved me and gave Himself for me and who filled me with a purpose for existence beyond all I had ever known or imagined. For years after that glorious transfor-mation, I walked on earth as though from another world. Time has lessened the blessed shock of those early years, but the deep joy and conviction of the truth of God in Christ that so gripped my heart have only deepened over time, now even more so in the fullness of His Catholic Church. There’s a line from a familiar Christ-mas hymn I can still barely sing without tears welling: Hark, the herald angels sing, Glory to the newborn King; Peace on earth, and mercy mild, God and sinners reconciled!” What more of heaven could earth con-tain? What further proof do we need of a God who demonstrated His love for us Eastern Oklahoma Catholic / July/August 2012 / www. dioceseoftulsa .org
