(Photo by Dave Crenshaw) Dioecese’s seminarians are home While away from their theology studies this summer, the seminarians of the Diocese of Tulsa are working either in eastern Oklahoma parishes and hospitals and Catholic Chari-ties are polishing their language skills. The Vocations Office structures the seminarians’ summer so that during their years of discerning whether God is calling them to the priesthood they will experience key aspects of being a priest. Here’s a list of who is doing what where: Seán Donovan: In residence at Resurrection Parish, Tulsa, with Father Steve Austin and also assigned to the Saint Francis Hospital Pastoral Care Office with Sister Mary Nika Schumer, RSM. Deacon Jorge Gómez: After his ordination May 29, assigned to Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Cushing with Father Matt La Chance. John Grant:Will attend Cirimex Mexico immersion experience and live in Guadalajara at the home of Father Samuel Perez’s mother. Michael Judkins: Cirimex Mexico immersion experience and will live at the home of Father David and Father Leonardo Medina’s parents. Bryan Ketterer: A 30-day St. John Vianney Seminary retreat in June and then assigned to Sacred Heart Church in Miami with Father Carl Kerkemeyer. Alfredo Marcelo: Will take a Conception Seminary mission trip through July 10 and then serve at St. Benedict Church in Broken Arrow with Father Joe Townsend. Pedro Mendez: After spending May at Resurrection Parish in Tulsa with Father Austin, he will serve at St. Henry Church in Owasso through the end of July. Todd Nance:Will serve at St. Francis Xavier Church in Tulsa with Father David Medina and coordinate the seminarians’ summer casual gatherings. Duy Nguyen: Will serve with Totus Tuus parish-based religious education for children through the end of July. Sean O’Brien: After spending June at a St. John Vianney retreat, he will join Msgr. Dennis Dorney and Father Gary Kastl at the Church of St. Mary in Tulsa, with additional part-time work at Catholic Charities as needed. Mike Pratt: After returning from Rome in June and spending a week with his family, he will serve at St. Bernard Church with Msgr. Patrick Gaalaas through July, with an additional assignment at Saint Francis Hospital Pastoral Care with Sister Mary Nika. David Webb:Will work with Totus Tuus through the end of July.
